The black church is a difficult subject to speak on. Right now, I am watching The Tyra Show where a young boy experienced an exorcism in order to rid himself of the homosexual spirit. I am a christian and I believe that God views ALL sin as the same. The preacher that performed the exorcist does not believe in being gay. She says that she travels through the realm of spirits and is persecuted because she speaks the truth. She also states that she kicked out thirty church members because they were sinning!! WHAT THE HECK?!?! She goes on to say that she does not hang out with sinners. My opinion about this is that we all fall short of the glory of God. Who are we as humans to judge others and say what is wrong and right in the eyes of the Lord!!! IT'S NOT RIGHT!! Now, I don't know much about exorcism but I do not know if A HUMAN can deliver someone from sin. If someone is sinning it is not our responsibility to judge and heal others. Only God can deliver people from sin.
Homosexuality is a very a sensitive subject for me because I have family members and close friends who are gay. As a black woman I embrace the homosexual community mainly because believe that they are people and should not be shunned away from society. Also because black women have the highest statistics for contracting the HIV/AIDS virus. When we hate the homosexual community it causes them to hide their true feelings and to ultimately become apart of "the down low." The down low then endangers MY health!!! BLACK WOMEN ARE THE VICTIMS FROM THIS HATE!
No sin is greater than the other. Black churches are so caught up in homosexuality that we are neglecting to love one another. There has been constant talk about homosexuality in the black church. I understand that this topic is important but there are other topics that can be explored from the perspective of the Christian faith? Why is it that we are not addressing women having children out of marriage, suicide, money, the love of God, his mercy, depression, being a good disciple, loving one other, and living a life that is pleasing to the Lord? This does not make sense....
Lastly, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO HELL BECAUSE YOU ARE GAY!!! People go to hell because they did not accept Jesus as the Lord and savior.....
