HAIR!!!

Ever since I can remember, I have been addicted to hair. My hair, your hair, relaxed hair, natural hair, locks, YOU NAME IT! As a little girl, I had your typical braids and beads, pony-tails with the different color balls and barrettes, and on special occasions my mom would allow me to wear to pressed. At the tender age of five my mother decided give me a relaxer i.e "perm." From the age of 5-17 I was HOOKED! The feeling of new growth disgusted me and I craved to make my hairdresser relax my hair every 12 weeks.

After twelve years of relaxing my hair, I had an epiphany. While reading the Autobiography of Malcolm X I came to the conclusion that growing out my relaxer would be a good decision. It took me approximately one year to grow out my hair. This has been the best decision that I have ever made in my whole entire life. I finally feel liberated. I have realized that my self-esteem is higher and I am more accepting to my natural state of being a black woman. This might sound a little over the top, but life is actually better without a relaxer. A black woman's hair is her crown and glory. When there is a satisfaction with your hair, it feels as if your entire life is going great! I mean come, ladies, how do you feel when ever you leave the hair dresser? You feel GREAT!! I can finally say that i have that feeling everyday. I highly recommend going natural to every black woman :)
